Now that High school season is starting for the older girls, I wanted to give you some tips to be successful on and off the field this season!
One of the most important things that you must nail down in order to succeed on and off the soccer field is time management!
In high school, you will have much more freedom and responsibility with your schedule. You’ll also have more things to juggle such as school work, soccer, social events, and other extracurricular activities.
Therefore, it’s super important to be able to manage your time so that you can get good grades and still have time for soccer and hanging out with friends.
I’ve seen too often when kids don’t manage their time and they either let their grades slip, they stop showing up to practice, or they have zero social life!
All of these things are important, so time management will be your best friend in high school and beyond!
Here are a few tools and concepts that will help you with time management:
Have a planner or calendar
Use this to put down all your commitments, practices, due dates, test dates, games, etc.
Refer to that planner every day so that you know exactly what you have going on this week from day-to-day so that you can be prepared in getting those tasks done.
School and grades come first
Out of all of your commitments, school comes first.
Getting good grades should be your #1 priority so make sure you block out time for getting your school work done first!
If your struggling with a subject get help from a teacher, tutor, or parent.
If you are struggling with a class, chances are that the homework and assignments are going to take you longer.
Not only will a tutor be able to help you get better grades, but it will force you to be more efficient with your time.
You might think that a tutor will take up more time.. which may be true in the moment…
…but, if you look at it long-term, once you understand the topic you will then be faster at getting your homework done (and you’ll get better grades).
