Today's blog is all about goals, not soccer goals, but about goal setting. More specifically, how to actually achieve your goals.
Far too often we set goals, but don't take the necessary steps or action to make those those goals a reality. I want you to think of your goals as a compass or a GPS.
Your goals are the destination to where you want to go or what you want to achieve. But without a vehicle, you can't make it to your destination.
Remember that the journey is more important than the destination. How will you get to your goal? What do you need to do to accomplish your goal?
I am going to teach you four steps to learn how to set goals, and more importantly, how to achieve them.
Number one is set smart goals.
Number two is create specific action steps.
Ask yourself, "What are two or three things I need to do in order to achieve this goal?" Make sure your action steps are something that you can continually take action on.
Number three is take action.
Do whatever you need to do to make your goal happen. Post your goals up, post your action steps up, find a way to take action on your goals every single day.
Number four is re-evaluate your progress.
Did I do what I needed to do today to achieve my goals or get closer to achieving my goal? Re-evaluate your priorities whether it's every week, every month, or everyday. The journey is more important than the destination.
It's the middle of summer, so now would be a great time to set and achieve goals. Make sure that you go do these four steps. Set goals for yourself whether it's related to school, nutrition, soccer, or being a better teammate. Whatever it is, get in the habit of setting goals at least every three months.
Doing this will act as a map or a compass for you to spend and take your action and the right direction of where you want to go. Spend your time and take action for the direction of where you want to go.
